Before I moved to Italy, I knew NO Italian except Ciao and Bella! Working full-time running a business, I didn't have have an abundance of time for in-person courses or extended online learning. A big fan of Audible, books on tape if you will, I began experimenting with various crash instruction models teaching the very basics to get by once we arrived in Italy. After finishing a few of those, I moved on to Pimsleur, a structured and very helpful course which I could take at my leisure. I appreciate the audio and pronunciation portion and the accountability which helps move the needle of progress. My husband loves Duolingo because it includes a competitive element for accomplishing goals.
Of course, the best thing about Audible is that you can multi-task and not feel guilty about spending hours listening. I was able to do all the regular "stuff" - clean the house, take the dogs for a walk, laundry, gardening and exercising. I also listened to several books on Italy both fictional and instructional.
I've listed a few below as well as a link to try Audible free for 30 days! https://amzn.to/48MjE8Y .
